Tamang Heritage trail trek, the exciting off beaten trekking track, is newly developed and famous trekking destination lies between Langtang and Ganesh Himal. This adventurous trekking trail was developed by the “Tourism for Rural Poverty Alleviation Program”, in order to uplift the status of the rural people and their living standard. This trek is situated near to the Tibetan border, that’s why the living style of the local people are somehow similar to the Tibetan culture. Especially this trek explore the ancient Tibetan culture and tradition along with the astonishing natural scenery.
The trek begins and ends in SyabruBesi but when trekkers head towards the destination they pass through different beautiful villages like Gatlang, Goljung, Chilime, Thuman, Timure and Briddim, which are inhabited by Tamang and Tibetan. We may get chance to experience about the culture and the tradition of local people of this region. Parvatikunda Lake and Tamang Monastery are the prime attraction of this region. The natural hot spring and healing bath at Tatopani of this region is the exciting experience for any trekkers. The best season to trek this destination are March-May and September-November.

Day 01: Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1460M)

Driving Time: 9 Hours

During the drive along the foot of the mountains you will see the change to Tibetan-like, remote landscape. Here, the people were originally Mongols who came from Tibet many years ago and have now settled in Nepal. From Syabrubesi village, there are many directions in which to cross the border of Nepal. This allows people to trek to famous destinations. You can explore around the village before settling for the night. Overnight at Syabrubesi. Included meals: BLD 

Day 02: Syabrubesi to Gatlang
Travel time: 5 to 6 Hours
You will start by following the trail around the valley and ascending up to a beautiful view point of the Ganesh Himal. As you walk through the valley of Gatlang, you will pass a lake and an apple farm. When you arrive in the village of Gatlang you can refresh, enjoy the friendly Buddhists, and the local Syabru dance. Overnight at Gatlang. Included meals: BLD 


Day 03: Gatlang to Tatopani/Hot Springs! (2240m)
Travel time: 6 to 7 hours
This is the hardest day on the whole journey. The way is long and steady. You follow the Bhotekoshi River, passing many villages along the way, and then continue ascending until you arrive in Tatopani. Here, you can release in the natural hot springs with local people that traditionally practice the same. Enjoy a good meal before resting for the night. Overnight at Tatopani. Included meals: BLD 

Day 04: Tatopani to Thuman (2000m)
Travel time: 4 to 5 hours
If you would like, you can have another soak in the hot springs before you head to Nagthali. The beggining of the path climbs to an enjoyable view of Nagthali Danda (3300m), surrounded in open grasslands and views of snow capped peaks. After a lunch break in Nagthali you can choose to stay and explore more of the area or move onto Thuman to spend the night. Thuman is a fairly big village with traditional Tibetan influence. The ancient Monasteries and woodcarvings are unforgettable. Overnight at Thuman. Included meals: BLD 


Day 05: Thuman to Timure
Travel time: 5 to 5 hours
The trail to Timure it is a challenging hike. You will pass many villages along the Tibet trading track. Timure, the biggest village, is a restricted area and has a checkpoint. Overnight at Timure. Included meals: BLD 


Day 06: Timure to Briddim (2290m)
Travel time: 5 to 6 hours
The trail to Briddim in the springtime is vibrant with rhododendron forests. The path also leads through the jungle and passes more Tibetan influenced villages. In Briddim, a home stay is a unique experience. Each family provides clean bedding, a toilet and dining area. You have the chance to live with the family and eat traditional foods such as plain rice, Tibetan bread, Syakpa (stew), tea and wine. You can take part in cultural practices and enjoy village walks with the family. Also, you will have the opportunity to gather in traditional costume and share a song and dance. Overnight at Briddhim. Included meals: BLD 


Day 07: Briddim to Syabrubesi (1460m)
Travel time: 6 to 7 hours
The trail starts with an easy descent to Syabrubsi. The way is surrounded in fine views of mountains.
Terraced fields and dense forest with a variety of plant species like oaks, maple, alder and bamboos open up. We may get to see yellow-throated martin, wild boar, languor monkey, and red panda and Himalayan black bear en route. Further on, the trail crosses a stream and a bridge. We pass by several small bhattis (tea shops) before reach to Syabrubesi. Overnight at Syabrubesi. Included meals: BLD . 

Day 08: Syabrubesi to Kathmandu (1360m)
Driving distance: 7 to 8 hours
We have come to the last day of our trip. From there on we take a jeep back to the capital where you can put your feet up and reflect on your new experiences. Overnight at Kathmandu. Included meals: BLD

Additional Information

Accommodations
During the trip, you will not get the standard hotels. All the accommodation will be in tea-house. Some time due to lack of space, you need to sleep in Dormitory-type bedroom.
Meals
When you pass the trip, the choice for the food will be less day by day. You will not get the entire menu. So, during the trip, we suggest that you should be adjustable with whatever you wish. During the trekking, basic foods are available. But, you will get tea and coffee, and beverages round the trips.


Best Season of Trekking
Trekking is basically suited for September, October, November and March, April and May. These months have sunnier and hotter and less slippery road and can be viewed clearly. Similarly, you will prevent from some disease. Winter has harsher and snowy and rainy has more rain, so it is not suitable. However, if you wish, we can operate the trek round the year.


HIKING/TREKKING CHECKLIST
