Limi Valley Trek, an off the beaten side trail located in the far west of Nepal. This relatively new trek includes dramatic trans Himalayan scenery, fascinating local history, and culture and the ancient Rinchenling Gompa Halji. The Limi valley trek makes a unique and great Himalayan trek.

Limi valley located in the far west of the country in the Humla region. This remote trek remained inaccessible to visitors until quite recently, adding to its allure and untouched charm. Hikers consider Limi Valley the ultimate trekking destination, as they journey through pristine landscapes, ancient Tibetan culture, and stunning Himalayan vistas. With snow-capped views of Mount Saipal, Mount Kailash, Api and Nampa. The trek follows an ancient salt trading and pilgrimage route to the border of Nepal and China. Day To Day Itinerary

Day 1

Welcome to Nepal! Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, our representative will greet you and assist with your transfer to your hotel in Kathmandu. After check-in, take some time to relax and recover from your journey. If time permits, take a stroll around the bustling streets of Thamel for souvenir shopping. In the evening, we will hold a trip briefing where you will meet your guide and discuss the adventure ahead.

Day 2

Start your day with a guided exploration of Kathmandu Valley’s iconic UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Visit Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple) and see panoramic views of the city. Proceed to Pashupatinath, a sacred Hindu temple by the Bagmati River, and then take part in circumambulation to Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest Buddhist stupas in the world.

Conclude your days tour by exploring the architectural wonders of Kathmandu Durbar Square.

Day 3

Early morning take a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj. The city located near the Indian border, with its flat terrain offers a contrast to Kathmandu’s hilly terrain. Spend the afternoon exploring the bustling markets as you prepare for the trek.

Day 4

Next day board a short yet scenic flight to Simikot, the starting point of your trek. Simikot is a charming town with stunning views of the surrounding hills and mountains. After landing, spend some time acclimatizing and exploring the local culture of the Humla district.

Day 5

Begin your trek with a descent from Simikot, passing through pine forests and charming villages. As you trek through the trail observe the local life and untouched beauty of the Humla region. Cross the Karnali River via a suspension bridge to reach the village of Dharapori. End the day with a warm meal and rest at the camp.

Day 6

Start your day by leaving Dharapori behind and following a trail that gently ascends through terraced farm fields. The sound of pouring waterfalls adds tranquility to the journey as you trek through the jungle. The scenic views of the surrounding hills and distant mountains will captivate you throughout the trek. Arriving in Kermi, you can relax by dipping into the natural hot springs, a therapeutic reward after the day’s journey. Take time to explore the small village, interact with locals, and enjoy the peaceful ambiance of this serene destination.

Day 7

Today we walk further in the valley alongside the Karnali River. The trail gradually ascends through pine forests. Along the trail we will come across caravans of yaks, mules, and goats. Crossing suspension bridges and trekking on varied terrains makes this day exciting. Upon reaching Yalbung, visit the biggest and most important monasteries in the region, Namkha Khyung Dzong Monastery. A spiritual haven where you can gain insight into Tibetan Buddhism. Capture scenic views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks and let the monastery’s tranquil environment rejuvenate your spirit.

Day 8

Today’s trek takes you deeper into the rugged beauty of the Humla region. The trail will lead you high, the scenery will change from dense forest to more bare landscapes of stones and sand. With low bushes scattered all around gaze upon the views of surrounding valleys and distant mountain ranges. Wildlife enthusiasts might spot Himalayan blue sheep or grazing yaks along the way. Upon reaching your destination for the day Tumkot Khola, a serene lakeside spot ideal for resting and camping after the day’s trek. The peaceful surroundings provide an excellent opportunity to immerse yourself in nature.

Day 9

The trail today gradually ascends as you venture into higher altitudes. Notice the changing landscape as the trees give way to rugged, alpine terrain. The views become more spectacular, with the vast Tibetan plateau in the distance and snow-clad peaks dominating the horizon. Thado Dhunga offers a remote, untouched setting perfect for soaking in the solitude of the mountains. Make camp near the scenic spot near a village. Take the evening to rest and prepare for the challenging pass ahead.

Day 10

Today you take an exhilarating climb to the Nara La Pass, the highest point of this trek. The ascent can be steep and challenging. Reaching the top rewards, you with panoramic views of the Tibetan plateau and surrounding Himalayan giants. The descent to Hilsa is equally scenic, taking you past prayer flags fluttering in the wind and rocky landscapes. Hilsa, a vibrant border village near Tibet, welcomes you with cultural intrigue and splendid scenery. Spend the evening exploring the village and reflecting on the day’s accomplishments.

Day 11

Leaving the village of Hilsa, begin your trek alongside the Karnali river, gradually ascending through picturesque terrains adorned with prayer flags and ancient mani walls. Manipeme offers breathtaking views and a chance to connect with nature. End your day at a cozy teahouse, rejuvenating yourself for the next adventure.

Day 12

You will trek through scenic trails with striking views of the Himalayas, passing small settlements that showcase Tibetan culture. Til Village is a remote and peaceful area that offers unique insights into local traditions. Your teahouse accommodations here promise comfort and a hearty meal.

Day 13

Today you head to Chagur, this day includes a visit to Halji. This villages are home to an ancient monastery – Rinchenling Gompa. Explore the village and experience the 1000-year-old cultural history. Continue your trek to the rejuvenating Chagzur Hot Springs, where you can relax in natural mineral-rich waters. Spend the night in a teahouse near the hot springs.

Day 14

Acclimatize to the region and take a well-deserved break and enjoy the healing properties of the natural hot springs. Use this day to explore the surrounding areas, interact with locals, and prepare for the high-altitude trek ahead.

Day 15

Today’s journey takes you through the most isolated places in the Talung Valley. Follow the trail and cross the Tagtsi bridge on the right you will see the ruins of one of the settlements of Limi. This abandoned village use to be one of the earliest know settlement of the valley. These days only the ruin and chorten can be seen here.

Trek past Zambuk (also known as the ruined village of Lama Palya) and cross the Nyingchhu river. Trek alongside the Tshomgo Lake and enjoying the beautiful scenery and streams of Talung meadows. As you reach Nyalu base camp you can see the camps of Limi and Humli of shepherds and yak-herders. After the long journey settle into a camping area for the night, while getting an immersing experience of traveling in isolated region.

Day 16

Today as you move out of the valley, ascent to the top of Nyalu Pass (4,990m). Experience the majestic views of the of the surrounding as you descend into lower altitudes. Along the trail you come across the Sheliman Lake (2,570m) a small beautiful lake located just outside the valley. Descend towards Tshongsa and cross the Tshongsa river making your way to Sheng Jungma. Along the trail to the village you will come across the towering Tshongsi Tsan waterfall. After walking for a while reach Sheng Jungma, a remote and peaceful site, ideal for rest after a long day of trekking.

Day 17

Today the trail takes you across the Tshongsa river. The trail continues until you reach the summercamp of Chyadok village herders. Here, witness the scenic view of Zhetse valley and the camp site of Dinga village herders also known as Langdogd Base. End the day at a teahouse or tented camps, enjoying local delicacies and warm hospitality.

Day 18

Making you way back to Simikot, today you will ascend throught the jungle of Langdogd Pass (4,550m). from the pass the trail descend to through juniper and birch forests to the campsite of Lekh Dinga (3,890 m). the village also known as Laga Dinga used to be a trading center for the Limi and southern people of Humli. Make camp and rest for the night.

Day 19

The trip comes to the end as you trek back to Simikot through beautiful trails following the villages of Yapka, Tangin on your left, and Aul Dinga on your right. Follow the Yapka Khola and cross a wodden bridge to reach the thakuri village of Okhreni.

From the village, after walking for about 3hours reach Simikot Lagna. With the beautiful view of Nyinba valley make a short descend till you reach the main capital of Humla, Simikot. Reflect on your journey as you enjoy the comfort of a teahouse.

Day 20

Take an early flight to Nepalgunj, connecting to Kathmandu. Relish your memories as you enjoy the comforts of city life.

Day 21

Your adventure concludes with your final departure from Kathmandu. Take home lasting memories and experiences from the incredible Limi Valley Trek.
