Annapurna Balcony Trek is a scenic trekking trail in the Annapurna region. Reaching a maximum elevation of 3210m the trail follows the Modi Khola River offering an excellent opportunity to view the panoramic Annapurna vista until reaching the village of Ghandruk. This trek is suitable for people of all ages and fitness level.

The trek starts from Kande(1,770m) with gradual ascent till you reach the high altitude of 3210m. The Annapurna balcony trek passes through the dense rhododendron forest, along the way you will get an opportunity to visit the various waterfalls, several species of birds and mammals such as langurs, etc.

One of the highlights of this trek is the village of Ghandruk, a picturesque settlement perched on the mountainside at an altitude of 1,950 meters. Ghandruk is known for its traditional Gurung culture, with stone-paved paths, beautifully preserved houses and panoramic views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli and Machapuchare (Fishtail). The village serves as a perfect spot to immerse yourself in the local culture and enjoy the hospitality of the Gurung people.

The trek also takes you to Poon Hill, a popular viewpoint at 3,210 meters, where the sunrise over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges is simply spectacular. Day To Day Itinerary

Day 1

Begin your journey with a scenic drive or a short flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara. Your trip to Pokhara city provides glimpses into the life of the village people and their pasture and farmlands. Driving to Pokhara takes about 8hrs, whereas the flight takes only 30mins to reach. Upon reaching the lakeside city, you will be greeted by the stunning view of the Annapurna range. Our representative be waiting to pick you up and transport you to your hotel. As nothing else is planned for today you can choose to explore the city or relax by the tranquil Phewa Lake.

Day 2

Start your drive to Kande covering approximately 27 kms. This short scenic route takes about an hour to complete. Upon reaching the Kande you trek through the Australian Base Camp. The path easier to walk as it is paved with well maintained stone stairs. Pass through the beautiful Rhododendrons forest as you enjoy the sound of nature birds and view of the valley. The trail then ascends to the Australian Camp, offering panoramic views of the Annapurna and Manaslu ranges. Continue trekking through forests to reach Pothana, a small village with beautiful mountain vistas.

Day 3

Next morning, witness the golden bean of light; the best sunrise views at the backdrop of Annapurna range. Continue through the Rhododendron forest, and make a descend to the Modi Khola river, then climb to the village of Landruk. This village offers a serene atmosphere and views of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli.

Day 4

Enjoy your breakfast and prepare for the day’s trek. The begins as you descend, walking beside the Modi Khola river. With the view the Himalayas besides you, continue your trek to Ghandruk, one of the largest Gurung villages in the region. The stone-paved paths, traditional houses and stunning mountain views make Ghandruk a highlight of the trek. Explore the village and learn about the local culture and traditions.

Day 5

Choose to stroll around the village or walk besides the mountain ranges. Today you can leave for destination after breakfast because the path is easy and short. Following the sounds of waterfall and birds this serene enviroinment gives you the pleasure of walking besides nature. Trek through the rhododendron forests, where the vibrant colors of the flowers in spring are a sight to behold. After passing the huge pasture lands you finally reach the village of Tadapani. Here you can enjoy the paranomic vistas of snow- capped mountains of the Annapurna range, making it a perfect spot for photography.

Day 6

With a hearty breakfast, today’s trek takes you through the enchanting dense forests of oak and rhododendron as you make your way to Ghorepani. This village is located on a ridge and offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Ghorepani is a popular stop for trekkers heading to the more famous viewpoint of Poon Hill.

Day 7

Today, you will reach the highest point of this trek. Start your ascent early and hike to the Poon Hill, here you can witness the breathtaking sunrise views over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. People include Poon hill as a detour on the Annapurna circuit, but its also a popular destination in its own right.

Continue your descent to Sikha, a Magar village with picturesque slated roof houses and many lodges. From this village you can get a fantastic view of the Dhaulagiri mountain range.

Day 8

After spending the night at Sikha, continue your descent mostly through a stone stairway. After you cross a suspension bridge of Ghar Khola, you will follow the trail passing through Kali Gandaki. Walking a little further up the right bank you come to Tatopani, which translate “Hot water” in Nepali. The hot spring of Tatopani is a favorite resting spot for both trekkers and Nepali caravan drovers. The main hot springs are just below the center the village and are always busy with the people bathing and relaxing in the healing hot waters. In addition to the developed hot springs with its cemented-walled pool, there are some natural springs alongside the river downstream towards Beni about 45 minutes away. Day 9

After a good night’s rest and a warming breakfast, take a scenic drive back to Pokhara. Along the way you can take the pictures and the view of the places you might have missed earlier. Upon your arrival in the city’s enjoy the many attractions, including boating on Phewa Lake, visiting the Mahendra Gufa or simply strolling around the Pokhara night market.

Day 10

Conclude your journey with a drive or flight back to Kathmandu. Spend your final evening exploring the vibrant streets of Thamel or visiting cultural sites in the capital city.
