The trek starts from Jomsom which is the headquarters of Mustang. The trail takes you through the mystical kingdom’s vast and barren valleys, worn out canyons, deep gorges, mud-brick houses, and provides views of Annapurna and Nilgiri mountains in the backdrop. Trekkers pass through many Buddhist gompas, Chortens, and Mani walls which represent the great history of Tibetan Buddhism. The highlight of the trek is the walled city of Lo-Manthang which dates back to the 14th century. During the trek, you get to observe the lifestyle of the mountain people, their food, their houses, culture and so on. Although there are a few high passes on the trek route, Mustang trek is not that difficult. Mustang is cold in the winter, and dusty and windy throughout the year that is why the best season for this trek is Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November). As Mustang falls in the rain shadow region, you can go for this trek during the monsoon season as well.

From Kathmandu, you take a scenic drive to the beautiful city of Pokhara. The bus ride takes you along the curvy roads providing views of the green hills, rural settlements, and snowcapped mountains. After reaching Pokhara, you can spend some time around the lakeside area. Overnight stay at a hotel in Pokhara.
Duration: 20 minutes fly / 3-4 hours trek
During the 20 minutes flight to Jomsom, you get to see spectacular views of the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna mountain ranges. You meet the rest of the crew in Jomsom and then start trek to Kagbeni. The trek starts along the bank of Kali Gandaki River and takes you north to the village of Kagbeni. Overnight stay at Kagbeni.
Duration: 6-7 hours
After a special permit check, the trek continues alongside the bank of Kaligandaki River. You enter Upper Mustang and follow the prehistoric salt trading route connecting to the Silk Road. The first village you encounter is Tangbe followed by Chhusang. After Chhusang, the trail leaves Kaligandaki valley and climbs steeply up a rocky gully to Chele. Overnight stay at Chele.
Duration: 6-7 hours
Today’s trail winds through Taklam La Pass which offers views of Tilicho Peak (7134m) and Damodar Danda. You descend down the pass and continue the trek to Samar. The trail then descends into a large gorge and goes into another valley along the surroundings of cool streams and juniper trees. Up ahead you climb a ridge and then make a final walk to reach Syanbochen. Overnight stay at Syanbochen.
Duration: 5-6 hours
You gradually climb uphill and ascend Yamda La Pass (3,850 m).Up ahead, you climb another pass known as the Nyi pass (4,010 m) and then follow the trail downhill to Ghami. After lunch at Ghami, you gradually climb uphill through the long Mani walls. The next part of the trek is a steep climb to another pass, Tsarang La (3,870 m). From the pass, you walk downhill and make your way to the beautiful village of Tsarang. Overnight stay at Tsarang.

Today’s trail takes you to Lo- Manthang with great views of Annapurna I (8,091 m), Tilicho Peak (7,134 m), and Nilgiri (7,061 m).Initially, the trail follows the Tsarang river bank and then ascends to the windy pass at 4,300 m. You can see the first view of Lo-Manthang city from the top before making a final descent to finally reach there. Overnight stay at Lo Manthang.
Today is a free day to explore the ancient capital city of Lo-Manthang. After touring Lo-Manthang, you hike or take a horse ride to the famous Namgyal Gompa. This gompa is situated at the top of a hill and serves as an important monastery and a community court as well. You can also visit Jhampa Gompa, oldest gompa in Lo-Manthang and Thupten gompa, the second oldest. The monasteries reflect the ancient culture and history of the region through excellent art, architecture, and murals in these structures. Overnight stay at Lo Manthang.

After leaving Lo-Manthang, you follow a different route on the western terrain through Gekar village. Gekar has the oldest monastery in Mustang known as the Ghar Gompa.the monastery is said to have scrolls, manuscripts, and artifacts reflecting the origins of the monastery and the ancient ages. The walk to Dhakmar is thrilling as the route is filled with canyons and eroded hills. Overnight stay at Dhakmar.

You start today’s trek early to avoid the strong winds in the afternoon. The trail leads passing through arid plateaus and crops in between. The trail is similar to that of the past few days and descends for the last hour before reaching Ghiling. Crossing numerous rivers and passes, we arrive at Ghiling. Overnight stay at Ghiling.

The path to Chhuksang is pretty easy as you walk downhill observing the Tibetan lifestyle of the local mix of Tibetan descendants. Apart from the deserted landscape, you also get good views of the Himalayas on today’s trail. After reaching Chhuksang, you can explore the black fossils (Saligrams) found on the river banks. Overnight stay at Chhuksang.

This is the final day of trekking. You walk down to the southern border of Mustang to Kagbeni. The trail gradually descends through salt route and takes you to Kagbeni. After lunch here, you follow the Kaligandaki river bank on a flat and easy track to reach Jomsom. Jomsom is a stop where you can enjoy the local delicacies and even the apple brandy- ’Marpha’ here. Overnight stay at Jomsom.

Today, you take an early morning flight to Pokhara. You will have plenty of time spare in Pokhara so you can go visit the Mahendra Cave, Phewa Lake, Tal Barahi temple, and other tourist attractions in Pokhara. In the evening, you can check out the bars and lounges around the lakeside area and celebrate the successful completion of the trek. Overnight stay at a hotel in Pokhara.

The final day of the trip takes you on a bus ride back to Kathmandu. You follow the Marsayangdi River and Trishuli River and enjoy the countryside on your way back to the capital. In the evening, you join the group for a farewell dinner organized by the company. You can also indulge in exploring the markets or resting after nearly two weeks of the trek. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu.
