Trip Introduction

Located north of Annapurna region between Damodar and Kechakyu Himal ranges, Nar Phu Valley Trek takes you to the exotic and mesmerizing valley of Nar Phu. With a real test of Himalayan lifestyle, culture and tradition of Tibetan people along with an incredible view of high mountain peaks, narrow canyons, and pleasant forests, this trek rewards you with a total wilderness and secluded environs of Nepal. Nar Phu valley still remains untouched by modernity thus rendering a supreme trekking destination with natural diversity and lush vegetation never ceasing to amaze the fellow trekkers.

After exploring around Kathmandu, you’ll take a drive to Koto from Kathmandu via Besisahar. Beautiful greenery and natural diversity on the way will certainly make your drive a pleasant one. Once at Besisahar, you’ll drive towards Koto via Jagat,Dharapani, and Bagarchhap. Now, our actual trek starts. While ascending towards the settlement of Meta via Dharmasala, you’ll walk past the forest of pine and beautiful waterfalls. Moving forward, the trail passes through Phu village and proceeds to Nar Phedi after an acclimatization day in Phu. On the way forward, you’ll get a stunning view of Annapurna Range, Gangapurna (7454m), Tilicho Peak (7134m), Himlung Himal (7126m), and many other mountain peaks. Now, passing the settlement of Yughat, you’ll reach the ancient village of Nar. The delight on the face of fellow trekkers is pretty obvious as they proceed forward in the wilderness of natural flora and fauna. A warm hospitality of Gurung and Tibetan people is simply unforgettable. You’ll now drop down to Pisang via Ngawal and drive back to Besisahar from where you’ll return to Kathmandu. September to November and March to May are the best time for Nar Phu Valley Trek.

Day To Day Itinerary

Day 1

Flying into Kathmandu, you’ll be able to enjoy the view of the high Himalayas, terraced fields and numerous hills. Upon your arrival, you’ll be greeted by one of our staffs and immediately transferred to your hotel. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 2

The capital city of Nepal, Kathmandu, is a historic city in itself. Today you’ll explore around UNESCO World Heritage sites which include Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, Boudhanath, and Kathmandu Durbar Square and get familiar about the rich history, cultural reflections, and religious essence of these places during the golden age. For this, we’ll manage a local English speaking professional guide. In the evening, you’ll start your preparation for the trek. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 3

Today, we’ll leave Kathmandu and we’ll first drive towards Besisahar. After lunch, you’ll take a jeep to Syange with a beautiful view of the river, local villages, hillsides, and mountains. Now, we move towards Koto via Chamje, Dharapani, and Bagarchhap. Along the way, you’ll enjoy the beautiful view of snow-capped mountains, waterfalls, and widely spread forests which certainly will make your long eight hours drive to Kotoa pleasant one. Overnight stay at Koto.

 

Day 4

After getting the permit at the Police Check Post to visit the restricted area, you’ll trek through the bank of Nar Khola along with rhododendron and pine forest, streams and suspension bridges and finally reach Dharmasala as you enter Nar-Phu valley. Crossing various waterfalls near Dharamsala, you’ll now ascend steeply towards the settlement of Meta through wide forests. It is a long seven hours trek. Overnight stay at Meta.

Day 5

After breakfast, you’ll be trekking towards the villages ofChyakhu and Kyang.After crossing PhuKhola, you’ll walk along with the large forest of blue pine and encounter with Blue Sheep on the way forward. With a unique cultural and tradition of Gurung and Ghale people and walking past old Buddhist Monastery, you’ll get a stunning view of HimlungHimal(7126m). Finally, you’ll reach Phu Village. The people of this village basically depends upon agriculture, animal breeding, and seasonal migration. Overnight stay at Phu.

Day 6

Today is the rest day at Phu which is a beautiful village where you’ll find the abundance of Gurung culture. After breakfast, you can hike to Himlung Base Camp which is at the altitude of 4900m. After returning from the hike, you can also visit old Buddhist Monastery known as Tashi Lhakhang Monastery from where you’ll get a stunning view of Himlung Himal (7126m) and other mountain peaks in the Annapurna range as well. You can even interact with locals and roam around the local market if you have enough time. Overnight stay at Phu.

Day 7

Today you’ll descend slightly downward crossing many streams and suspension bridges. After reaching MahendraPul, you’ll pass through high suspension bridge which is hanging over the gorge of Lapche River. From there, you’ll ascend steeply through many Buddhist Stupas for about 2 hours to reach Nar Phedi. The village is regarded as the gateway to the isolated Nar region. Overnight stay at a monastery.

Day 8

On the 8th day, you’ll trek towards Nar Village following the windy path to the up hills. Along the way, you’ll walk past bamboo-topped Chortens and sloppy landscapes. Finally, walking past two entrance gate, you’ll reach Nar Phedi through the settlement of Yughat. Nar Phedi to Nar Village is a short trek of around three hours. Overnight stay at Nar village.

Day 9

Early in the morning, you’ll start your trek towards JhombuKharka also known as Kang La Phedi.  Now, the trail goes towards the Yak herder’s camp and ascends steeply passing various landscapes towards Kang La Pass (5320m). From the top of the pass, you’ll get the view of Annapurna Range, Gangapurna (7454m) and Tilicho Peak (7134m). Moving forward along with the forest of pine and oak, you’ll finally reach the settlement of Ngawal. Overnight stay at Ngawal.

Day 10

From Ngawal, you’ll descendslightly until you reach the village of Braga which leads the way towards Manang. On the way downward, along with a spectacular view of Manang valley, you’ll also get the glimpses of Annapurna Range, Pisang Peak (6091m), Chulu East Peak (6584m), Tilicho Peak (7134m), and many more. Enjoying the wildlife, natural flora, and fauna and crossing few suspension bridges, you’ll finally move towards the settlement of Pisang via Humde. From there, you’ll be driving to Besisahar via Dharapani and Jagat.  Overnight stay at Besisahar.

Day 11

Today, you’ll be bidding farewell to your adventurous trek. With a content heart, you’ll be driving back to the capital from Besisahar. Along the way, you’ll cross various rivers, green hills and deep valley. Upon your arrival, you’ll be transferred to your hotel. You can roam around Thamel in the evening, buy a souvenir and enjoy the nightlife. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 12

Today is your final day in Nepal. We’ll drop you off at Tribhuvan International Airport 2 hours before your scheduled flight for your final departure.
