Saga Dawa Festival 2025, a spiritual and cultural journey to the mystical land of Tibet. This iconic festival, held on the auspicious full moon of the fourth lunar month. This religious festival celebrates the birth, enlightenment, and parinirvana of Lord Buddha. Taking place in the breathtaking Tibetan plateau, the festival is a blend of tradition and spiritual experience.

Begin your adventure in the vibrant capital of Kathmandu. From there, this 10-day itinerary guides you through pristine landscapes, sacred lakes, and the towering peaks of the Himalayas. Among the many highlights, the sacred Mount Kailash Kora stands out. Pilgrims from all over the world gather here to perform the sacred circumambulation (Kora) around Mount Kailash. Four major religions—Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism, and Bon—consider the mountain the most sacred.

You will have the unique opportunity to witness ancient rituals, including prayer flag hoisting and chanting ceremonies led by monks, all while being immersed in the joyous gatherings of devotees. Along the way, you’ll meet Tibet’s warm-hearted locals, marvel at the spectacular vistas of Lake Mansarovar under the full moon, and experience the challenging yet rewarding trek through the high passes of Kailash Kora. Day To Day Itinerary

Day 1

Early morning we start our journey with a drive to Kerung. The drive via Pasang Lhamu highway takes about 7 hours. Journey through the stunning landscapes of Langtang National Park. Witness the natural beauty that bridges the lush greenery of Nepal with the stark, rugged vistas of Tibetan Plateau. After around 170km, you reach the China-Nepal (Tibet Border).

Day 2

On the second day as you reach Kerung, rest for the day gently acclimatizing to the higher altitude. Explore the vibrant town of Kerung, experience its bustling markets, local Tibetan life and friendly locals.

  • Activities: Light walks and cultural exploration.

Day 3

Cross vast and mesmerizing landscapes that define the Tibetan plateau. Journey through the two high passes Thong La and La Lung. Along the way to Saga pass by the many small lakes and cross the Yarlong Tsangpo (Brahmaputra) river. This scenic drive provides plenty of photographic opportunities of the breath-taking views of the surrounding peaks and valleys.

Day 4

Today is the first day of the festival. Arrive at the sacred Lake Mansarovar, a place of pilgrimage attracting thousands of devotees annually. Its crystal-clear waters reflecting the Himalayas create a perfect setting for spiritual reflection and meditation.

Day 5

Darchen serves as a gateway to the spiritual path of Mount Kailash. Spend the evening preparing for the Kora, surrounded by some of the most spectacular views of sacred mountains. Full moon puja and drive to Darchen from Mansarovar

Day 6

Darchen to yamdar (Tarboche) and is also known as the valley of Gods,Yamadwar ,the entrance  (Gateway) of the God of Death.  By drive 30 minutes after start the Kailash Kora, a journey through dramatic landscapes with a profound spiritual essence. Reach Dirapuk and engage in the sacred act of touching Kailash Charan Sparsh, believed to cleanse the soul and bring blessings.

Day 7

Challenge yourself on the trek to Drolma La Pass, the highest and most sacred point of the journey. Experience a sense of accomplishment and spiritual renewal as you descend towards Zuthulpuk, surrounded by the serene beauty of the Himalayas.

Day 8

Conclude your Kora with a profound sense of achievement and enlightenment. The return journey offers time for reflection on the spiritual insights and personal transformations gained.

Day 9

As you retrace your route back to Kerung, take in the tranquil landscapes one last time, carrying with your memories of a journey that transcends mere travel.

Day 10

Descend through the lush landscapes of Nepal, reflecting on the transformative experiences of your trek. The journey through the valleys offers a peaceful transition as you prepare to re-enter the bustling city life of Kathmandu.

Required Document:

These are the required document needed to obtain visa while travelling to Tibet for the festival.

  1. Passport scan copy at least 25 Days before of travel date.
  2. Original Passport at least three (Official Days) days before of travel date.
  3. Passport size photo white background at least 6-month-old.
